MoyoMap vs ChatGPT and Claude Projects
Chat projects keep a thread with one vendor. MoyoMap keeps a shared map of claims, evidence, labels, and disagreements, including retrieval on your own API.
ChatGPT Projects and Claude Projects keep files, instructions, and a conversation next to one model. That is a good place to draft. It is a poor place to keep a finding: the claim is buried in a turn, the citation is whatever the model pasted that time, and a colleague cannot see which assertion the team accepted.
What each one stores
- A chat project stores a thread, uploaded files, and custom instructions for one assistant. History is chronological. Two people can share the project, but they still read a transcript.
- A MoyoMap stores claims as nodes. Parents and edges show argument structure. Each claim can carry citations, source models, and a review label such as Known, Incorrect, or Investigate. The map is the object you share, not the chat that produced it.
Where they diverge
- Several models. A chat project is one vendor’s assistant. MoyoMap can run the same topic across models and keep what each one said. A model compare (beta) is that difference made explicit.
- Disagreement. A thread tends to converge on the last answer. A map can hold a contested claim next to the citation that supports it and the label that rejects it.
- Citation. A public MoyoMap has a stable page. A chat transcript does not. People cite the map, not a screenshot of a turn.
- Who can read it. A chat project is private to the people in that vendor account. A MoyoMap can be private, unlisted, or published. Publishing is a separate license. See public, private, and team.
- Your own API. On MoyoMap you can save a provider key and run retrieval on that key. Use your own API for added security. A chat project always runs on the vendor that hosts the project.
- Cost. A chat project is part of that vendor’s subscription. MoyoMap retrieval spends credits, or 0 credits when every selected model uses your keys. Browsing and labeling do not spend credits.
When to use which
Use a chat project while you are still prompting: narrowing a question, trying a tone, or dumping a file into one assistant. Move the result into MoyoMap when more than one person needs the same claims, when you need to see which model said what, or when the output should survive the thread.
