Moyo Scan vs a traditional OSINT memo

What a Moyo Scan reports that a one-off OSINT memo usually does not: multi-model claims, citations, scores, and a MoyoMap you can keep.

A traditional OSINT memo is a narrative a person writes after searching. It can be the right deliverable. It is also a snapshot: one author, one pass, hard to update, and silent on which models already inferred the same fact before anyone wrote a sentence.

A Moyo Scan ($495 per target) asks multiple models what they infer about a topic from public sources, then packages findings, claims, citations, and scores. The same research can land as a MoyoMap you keep working.

What you can see in each

  • Author. A memo has a named analyst and a judgment. A Moyo Scan has model output. Corroborated means models agree. It does not mean the claim is true.
  • Sources. A good memo cites what the analyst opened. A Moyo Scan attaches the public citation the models used, so you can open the same page.
  • Model spread. A memo usually collapses disagreement into one voice. A Moyo Scan keeps status labels: corroborated, contested, outlier, unvalidated inference, and model-specific.
  • Stakes. Sensitivity 1–5 ranks how high-stakes a disclosure would be if the finding is right. It is not a probability. Confidence ranks how clearly the evidence shows the model stated the finding.
  • Update. Rewriting a memo is a new document. A MoyoMap made from the same topic can be expanded, labeled, and compared with another map.
  • Scope. A Moyo Scan is outside-in and public sources only. It does not log into the target, and it does not accept a confidential file dump. A memo can include whatever the analyst was allowed to see, including material a model should never receive.
  • Delivery. A Moyo Scan is a hosted, passworded link. The link works for 7 days. A memo is a file you keep. Public sample reports are not on that timer.
  • Account. A Moyo Scan does not require a MoyoMap account. Building and labeling an editable map does.

When to use which

Use a memo when you need a signed human judgment, classified or internal sources, or a narrative a principal will read once. Use a Moyo Scan when you need to see what models already infer, with sources, before you write that judgment. Use a MoyoMap when the scan, or a chat answer, should become a living set of claims.
